#GlitterFriday Winner!

You might have noticed that Lene did not make her usual nail tutorial today. Unfortunately she is suffering some technical issues, being that she has no internet at her home this week. I tried my hardest to do a nail art video tutorial but that video will never see the light of day. Lene is the nail expert so hopefully she is back online soon!

Now, followers of my Instagram account know that I love glitter and every Friday, without fail, I enter the LIT Cosmetics #GlitterFriday competition. If you don´t know what #GlitterFriday is then I suggest you find out. LIT is the kind of company that loves all things glitter and on Fridays they give you the opportunity to win 5 of their glitters. All you have to do is post a makeup or nail look using glitter and it does´t even have to be created using LIT products. So you just repost the image below, and then post your entry using the required hashtags for it to be a legit entry.

You have 24 hours to enter and then the LIT team choose between 15 – 20 looks which then goes to a public vote. The most popular look wins. Simple right? They also have a weekly wildcard winner. The wildcard goes to someone who did not make it to the voting round but created a look that really inspired the LIT crew.

Now as I mentioned, I enter this competition every week and I have made it to the voting round a few times but never managed a win. That was, until the 20th of April this year! My purple glitter lip won the popular vote round and I am now the proud new owner of a bag of LIT Cosmetic goodies!

So as my sexy new light box and tried arrived, I thought instead of embarrassing myself with that terrible, never to be spoken of again nail tutorial. I would get my glitter on!

So “what is in the prize bag?” I hear you ask. Winners of #GlitterFriday receive a stack of 5 LIT Cosmetics Glitters, a full size Clearly Liquid Glitter Base, a mini Water Resistant Clearly Liquid Glitter Base, a Sparkle Duster, a mini LIT Brush, a few LIT Stickers and 4 extra lids incase you don’t want to stack your collection.

The Sparkle Duster is a pretty cool little tool. It is a smooth fabric wrapped in a rough fishnet fabric and it works to remove glitter from all the wrong places. If you drop glitter on your cheek, you can just flick it away with the Sparkle Duster. As it is fabric, it is incredibly easy to clean and sterilize and it is surprisingly durable. I actually have about 10 of these already from various LIT Kits left over from Stavanger Fashion Night but not one of them has fallen apart or needed replacing.

The full size version of the Clearly Liquid Base is insane. Seriously. I am still using the first mini one I opened in December and it is nowhere near empty. This is like the OCC Lip Tar of bases. It just keeps going and going. However, I accept the challenge to use it all before it expires! There is about to be a whole lot more glitter in my life hehe. I have not actually tried the water resistant base yet. I have found the normal base to be awesome for Flash Tattoos, a base for concealer over large blemishes and for mixing with pigment to create eyeliner. So I expect the water resistant base to be doubly effective at all of these jobs and of course the whole, glitter base job.

Lit Cosmetics glitter in in “ABBA” is a hint of Pink mixed with Yellow Stars. Like it´s name sake, it is young and sweet, only seventeen.

So these were the 5 colours I received. These (save for “Firecracker”) are all newly released to the LIT Range this year. Now as awesome as my new light box is, it does´t really capture the true glittery goodness of these cosmetic grade glitters. At IMATS NYC a few weeks ago, after a 1000 and more hours of filming, hash tagging and some hard ass working commitment, LIT Cosmetics Released their Sparkle Finder. If you are not following this Instagram page you really need to. The short videos show off each glitter perfectly. If you are having trouble choosing which blue to buy, simply do a hashtag search for #LITBlues on Instagram and you will find a short video of each sparkle. Soon all the videos will be integrated onto the current LIT Cosmetics website. I don´t know of any other company marketing their glitters with a colour accurate video.

Anyway enough of that! I am sure you are dying to see the swatches! So here they are…

I just want to make it clear that I have not been asked or payed to make this post. The reason it is so positive is because I am positive about LIT. They are a great company with excellent customer service, awesome competitions, they support not only their customers but all artists and enthusiasts using glitter, they are fair trade, cruelty free, vegan safe and above all they are humble. I will tell you that LIT Cosmetics has been very good to me and in the past (Stavanger Fashion Night) supplied me with products to use when other companies turned me away but my love for LIT is purely based on their products and customer services.

I hope you enjoyed the sparkle and Lene should be back with her usual Saturday post next week. Don´t forget to check out Nadine´s tutorials and as always remember, No Glitter, No Glory!
